Joel Legg has worked in various roles since 2012. From 2012-2014, they were a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Alabama Graduate School and a Petroleum Geologist at Schlumberger from 2014-2013. In 2013, they were a Geoscience Intern at Chesapeake Energy, where they utilized well log analysis to distinguish between two shale formations and mapped fracture networks. From 2016-2017, they were a Software Engineer at Libera, Inc., where they built case management systems, integrated real time geolocation data, implemented workflow enhancements, and managed projects according to Kanban methodology. Since 2018, they have been with Core10, where they have held the roles of VP of Technology, Engineering Manager, Senior Software Engineer, and Software Engineer. In these roles, they have written Node.js adapters using TypeScript, setup CICD pipelines with Gitlab, built .Net Core micro-service applications with Mongo, added event sourcing with RabbitMQ, rewritten AngularJS applications to Vue.JS with a new design, set up payment processing through Payeezy, built a streamlined loan forgiveness application using React and Java, built a credit card application system, developed a reusable scheduling system using Java, implemented AWS Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, SES, and S3, and debugged code to fix issues and improve performance.
Joel Legg obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Geology/Earth Science, General from Austin Peay State University between 2008 and 2012. Joel then went on to obtain a Master of Science (M.S.) in Petroleum Geochemistry from The University of Alabama between 2012 and 2014. In April 2020, they obtained the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations 2020 Certified Associate certification from Oracle.
