CoreWeave is seeking a Global Head of Tax. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Global head of Tax is responsible for CoreWeave’s overall tax department, including all components of tax planning, the accounting for income taxes and indirect taxes, tax compliance, and tax audits. This position will work with advisors, service providers, financial auditors, and other tax professionals in carrying out his or her responsibilities. Additionally, the role will need to work closely with legal, accounting, finance, treasury, business development, and business operations in order to ensure appropriate tax compliance, optimize the Company’s tax position, and set an overall long-term tax strategy.

The successful candidate is an experienced executive, with a public accounting background as well as industry experience working in a large global tax function. Excellent communication skills are a must, in addition to the ability to lead and develop a global team of tax professionals. This person must “know what good looks like at scale” but also be willing to be hands-on to help build up the tax function to support a rapidly growing global business.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Strategy and Planning

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and business units to provide tax advice on business decisions, M&A, and cross-border transactions.
  • Stay updated on tax regulations and trends to identify opportunities and exposures the Company may face, and communicate with senior management on the potential impact of these proposed new and modified laws
  • Provide and deliver strategic tax planning to drive lower effective global tax rates. Similarly, support operational initiatives focusing on any tax implications

Tax Compliance and Reporting

  • Oversee the efficient, timely, and complete processing and filing of external tax reporting in compliance with international, federal, state, and local tax laws
  • Manage and ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations globally
  • Maintain robust tax reporting processes to ensure that the Company complies with tax laws and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements while maximizing efficiency

Tax Audits and Risk Management

  • Ensure appropriate issue analysis and negotiation of audit settlements with taxing authorities
  • Implement policies to mitigate tax risks and provide guidance on the tax implications of business transactions and financial reporting

Team Leadership

Leads, coaches, and develops their team, fostering a high-performance culture

  • Leverages development tools to facilitate training and upskilling of team members
  • Leads performance management and appraisals as well as goal setting for team members

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s or graduate degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience – an advanced degree (e.g., MBA or MS) is preferred
  • Extensive experience with contract review and interpretation, especially in the context of taxation
  • Expert knowledge of tax, especially as it relates to external tax provisions and disclosures
  • Previous experience in Cloud or Data Center Infrastructure (data centers, cloud, etc.) is preferred but not required
  • Experience working in a publicly traded company with SOX compliance is highly desirable
  • 12+ years of experience with a demonstrated passion for conquering challenges and bringing order from chaos
  • Strong partnership, communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized yet remain flexible in a fast and dynamic work environment
  • Leadership/mentorship mentality that inspires strong attention to detail and process improvement among junior and mid-career accounting staff
  • Data and process-driven with a strong analytical mindset
  • Proactive with the ability to anticipate and avoid problems before they arise
  • Embrace positivity & tenacity: you find ways to move forward through challenges
  • Experience at a large public accounting firm is a plus
  • Ability to work from home with a reliable internet connection and distraction-free environment

What We Offer

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $245,000 in our lowest geographic market up to $325,000 in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors, including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
