Peter John Loewen

Peter John Loewen currently serves as the Harold Tanner Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Cornell University, a position held since August 2024. Previously, Peter held significant roles at the University of Toronto, including Robert Vipond Distinguished Professor in Democracy and Director of the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. Peter is also recognized for directing the School of Public Policy and Governance and the Centre for the Study of the United States at the Munk School. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Political Science from Université de Montréal and a Postdoctoral Fellowship from The University of British Columbia. Peter's career encompasses various postdoctoral and visiting research roles at esteemed institutions, alongside experience in political strategy during the Bill Black campaign for Nova Scotia Premiership.
