Daniel Hoare

Daniel Hoare is a government relations and strategic communications professional with more than two decades of experience across a range of industries, with a particular focus in recent years on the transport and major infrastructure sector. He leads Cornerstone’s Victorian operation, which is a joint venture between the NSW-based Cornerstone Group and the Queensland-based GovStrat.

Daniel joined Cornerstone in 2021 after four years as Executive General Manager for Corporate Affairs at Victoria’s regional rail operator, V/Line and before that as Chief of Staff to the Victorian Minister for Roads, Road Safety and Ports. He has wide-ranging experience across a number of highly regulated sectors covering corporate affairs, media management, and executive government administration. Prior to that was an award-winning journalist initially with the finance section of The Australian, then as a reporter for the ABC Radio AM and PM programs and at Al Jazeera’s 24-hour international English news network based in Kuala Lumpur.

Daniel is an experienced manager of diverse teams in government relations, media and external relations, digital communications and stakeholder engagement. He has a strong grasp of political and public affairs issues, social trends, economics and public policy. He has significant experience managing the interface between government and the private sector to achieve regulatory certainty for clients. He has high-level analytical and problem-solving skills, well-honed influencing skills, a strong understanding of government procurement, major infrastructure projects and private sector mergers and acquisitions. He has a track record of success in effecting change and delivering outcomes.
