Nick Melas

Nick Melas is a trusted and respected senior government affairs professional with over a decade of experience. With a strong reputation for trusted and strategic professional advice, he maximises engagement with government to ensure that clients secure their objectives.

From 2009, as Managing Director of boutique government relations advisory firm, Profile Consulting (Aust) Pty Ltd, his strategic and nuanced engagement operated across state and federal levels of government.

Nick worked previously in the offices of the Hon. Gary Punch MP, Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, and the Hon. Robert McClelland MP, Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations.

In 2001, Nick co-founded Specialist Opinions – a leading medico-legal service provider, providing specialist medical assessments to the insurance industry, Commonwealth and state government departments and the legal fraternity. Nick also has a wealth of international contacts and experience as the Australasian member and current Chair of The Advocacy Group’s (TAG) international committee. TAG is an international government, lobbyist, and public affairs network headquartered in the USA.

Having worked in both government and corporate arenas, Nick brings a deep understanding of the issues facing many sectors and how to navigate political and public policy systems to achieve results. He has a strong track record of advising local and international clients in all areas of legislation, regulation and the broader public policy development process. His bipartisan approach and clear insights into the political risks and opportunities for his clients and their sectors, ensures that they can leverage and/or defend their strengths and weaknesses.

Nick has successfully represented client interests across banking and finance, transport infrastructure, telecommunications, health and resources. He has developed specific expertise in the gig economy, retail, IT / digital transformation and constructions sectors. Nick studied Political Science and Industrial Relations at the University of NSW.
