Shimei Fan is the current Chief Scientific Officer at Coty. Prior to this, they held various positions at different companies including Shiseido, Beiersdorf, Johnson & Johnson, and Unilever.

Fan has over 30 years of experience in the beauty and personal care industry. Shimei began their career as a Senior Product Development Manager for Hair Care at Unilever in 1992. In 2007, they became the Senior R&D Director for Open Innovation at Unilever and held this position until 2014. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as the Global Senior R&D Director for Hair and Compromised Skin at Johnson & Johnson. After leaving Johnson & Johnson, Fan became the Global R&D VP for Personal Care at Beiersdorf from 2016 to 2019. In October 2019, they took on the role of SVP at Americas Innovation Center for Shiseido and held this position until January 2022.

Throughout their career, Fan has been responsible for building technology innovation ports, developing global technology pipelines, and delivering innovation for various Unilever business groups. Shimei is a highly experienced and respected leader in the beauty industry, with a proven track record of success.

Shimei Fan received their executive education from Harvard Business School. Shimei then went on to get their Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Chemistry from the University of Southampton. After that, they obtained their Master's degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Cambridge. Lastly, they received their Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemistry from Fudan University.
