Shelby Swanson

Director of Adult Treatment Services at Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse

Shelby joined CADA in 2021 to oversee its adult treatment programs, which include Project Recovery (outpatient treatment); ARTS (residential treatment); the Perinatal Program; two Court Referred DUI programs for first-time and multiple offenders; and the agency’s substance abuse treatment services at the Probation Report and Resource Center (PRRC). She formerly worked with adults diagnosed with severe mental illness in residential settings and is an experienced therapist with adults and adolescents in the Santa Barbara community. She has also worked with youth in the juvenile probation system and adults experiencing a dual diagnosis. A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Shelby received her BA in sociology from UCSB (with a minor in applied psychology), and an MA in counseling psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.
