Thomas Abt

Thomas Abt serves as the Founding Director at the Center for the Study and Practice of Violence Reduction at the University of Maryland since November 2022. Thomas is also a Senior Fellow at the Council on Criminal Justice and currently holds the position of Chair for the Violent Crime Working Group. In addition, Thomas is the Director of the National Commission on COVID-19 and Criminal Justice. Prior to their current roles, Thomas Abt held various positions in different organizations such as the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Harvard Law School, State of New York Executive Chamber, U.S. Department of Justice, Obama for America, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and the New York County District Attorney's Office.
