David Sacks

Fellow for Asia Studies at Council on Foreign Relations

David Sacks is currently a Special Assistant to the President and Research Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. Prior to this, they worked as a Political Military Affairs Officer at the American Institute in Taiwan from October 2015 to October 2017. From February 2015 to June 2015, they interned at the U.S. Department of State. David also interned at the U.S. Department of the Treasury from September 2014 to December 2014.

From July 2012 to July 2013, David worked as an Analyst at BDA Partners where they advised on buy- and sell-side mergers and acquisitions, researched industries and implemented valuation techniques to evaluate and analyze companies, created pitch books and confidential information memoranda, oversaw, edited, and distributed quarterly industry newsletters, and advised an industrial company on the successful divestiture of one of its business units.

Before their work in the private sector, David was a Princeton in Asia Teaching Fellow at Zhejiang University of Technology from September 2011 to June 2012.

David Sacks earned a Master’s Degree in International Relations and International Economics, China Studies from The Johns Hopkins University - Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). David also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Carleton College.

Their manager is Richard N. Haass, President, Council on Foreign Relations. They are on a team with Mia Higgins - General Counsel, Giovanna Ban - Chief Investment Officer, and Jessica Thomas - Director, Strategic Initiatives and DEI Business Partner.
