Margaret B. has extensive work experience in various leadership and financial roles. Margaret has served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Council on Foundations since 2019. Prior to that, they were the Chief Financial Officer for the American Physical Society (APS Physics) from 2018 to 2019. Margaret also worked as the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Administrative Officer for the National Philanthropic Trust from 2004 to 2017. Earlier in their career, they served as the Manager of Finance & Operations for Carpathia Credit Union Ltd. and as a Financial Manager for the Government of Manitoba. Margaret began their career as a Project Accountant and Financial Analyst for ExxonMobil.
Margaret B. has a diverse and extensive education history. Margaret obtained a diploma in Business Administration summa cum laude from Red River College Polytechnic in 1983. Later, in 2008, they pursued Executive Education - Finance at USC Marshall School of Business.
In addition to their academic achievements, Margaret B. has also obtained several professional certifications. Margaret became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in January 2001. Margaret also holds a certification as a Certified Management Accountant / Chartered Professional Accountant from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada). Margaret B. is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant, certified by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Lastly, they completed a certification in Six Sigma Green Belt - Financial Services from Villanova University.
