Matthias Knaupp

Dr. Matthias Knaupp is a seasoned expert in materials and engineering, currently serving as the Global Technology Development Manager for Electromobility at Covestro since January 2015. In this role, Dr. Knaupp leads technological initiatives to enhance the application of polycarbonates in E-Mobility, with a focus on battery packaging and powertrain solutions for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). Previous positions at Covestro include Application Development for Composites in the Automotive sector and Lead Engineer, where responsibilities encompassed project management and the development of innovative composite technologies. Prior experience includes a role in application development at Bayer and project leadership in product development at LANXESS, along with academic contributions at the University of Rostock and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. Dr. Knaupp holds a Dr.-Ing. in Lightweight Construction and a Diplom Ingenieur in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rostock.
