Mira Oberman has a diverse range of work experience in communications and public engagement. Mira has held several roles with the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS), including Director of Communications and Public Programs, where they developed the Nature Club initiative to promote outdoor activities and environmental education. As Communications and Engagement Manager at CPAWS, they redesigned the chapter website and expanded the social media audience. Mira also founded Cardinal Point Communications, a communications consulting service for non-profits and small businesses, where they provided strategic content and project-specific communications strategies. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Communications Manager at the International Institute for Sustainable Development, managing communications for the Economic Law and Policy group and spearheading a website redesign. Mira began their career as a Midwest Correspondent for AFP, running a solo bureau and managing a network of freelancers. Mira also gained experience as a police reporter at the Toronto Star and as a reporter for Bridge News, specializing in financial news and covering various topics such as elections, state visits, and market trends.

Mira Oberman completed two years of a Bachelor's degree in Journalism at Ryerson University in 1997. Mira then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 2002. Mira furthered their education by obtaining a Master's degree in Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin in 2004.
