David Banks

President at CPP Wind

Dr. David Banks has been with CPP since 2000 and President since 2020. He developed and continues to lead our Solar Services sector, which provides state-of-the-art wind loads both for generic solar products and specific solar farms. He has directed studies of different solar products, including single-axis trackers, heliostats, dish and trough concentrators, fixed tilt ground mounts, and residential and commercial roof-mounted PV modules. This work has engendered the development of new methods for solar wind load testing, interpretation, and presentation. He is a globally recognized authority on solar wind loads.

Dr. Banks has been a member of several committees, including the ASCE 7 wind loading subcommittee, and the ASCE 49 Wind Tunnel Testing Committee, and is currently active in the ASCE Solar Manual of Practice wind load subcommittee. Dr. Banks holds a B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in Fluid Mechanics and Wind Engineering from Colorado State University.
