Ariel Oltean

Ariel Oltean started as a Marketing Coordinator at Crain’s Detroit Business in 2014 and now leads the corporate communications team at Crain. She held two additional roles before being promoted to her current position — Content Manager, and Corporate Communications and Events Manager. Her focus is on authentic communication, project management, and finding creative ways to help the team feel more connected.

Prior to Crain, she worked as a Staff Writer and then Associate Managing Editor at Carbon Media Group, a Metro Detroit-based agency focused on the outdoor sports industry. While attending undergrad, she worked as a Reporter and Managing Editor for CM Life, the award-winning student newspaper.

She received her B.S. in journalism and political science from Central Michigan University and received her M.A. in strategic communication with a focus on organizational leadership at Michigan State University in 2022.
