Sarah Doty has a diverse range of experience in the art museum and education field. Sarah began their career as an Education Intern at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts in 2006. Sarah then went on to work as a Gallery Attendant at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee from 2007 to 2009. Sarah furthered their experience as a Curatorial Intern in Modern and Contemporary Art at the Milwaukee Art Museum from 2008 to 2009. Sarah then served as a Curatorial and Education Fellow at the Kresge Art Museum at Michigan State University from 2009 to 2010.
In 2010, they joined the Newaukee/Art Milwaukee team as Manager of Partner Relations, concurrently working as an Arts Administration Mentee at the Milwaukee Artist Resource Network. That same year, Sarah also became an Assistant Museum Exhibit Producer at Xibitz, Inc., where they worked until 2014.
Sarah joined Cranbrook Art Museum in 2014, initially working as an Assistant Curator of Education until 2016. Sarah then became the Associate Curator of Education from 2016 to 2019. From 2019 to 2021, they served as the Associate Curator of Public Programs and Interpretation. In 2021, Sarah became the Associate Director of Visitor Experience & Museum Operations at Cranbrook Art Museum.
Sarah Doty completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Art History at Western Michigan University from 2001 to 2006. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Art History and Museum Studies at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2007 to 2009. During their studies, Sarah also attended the Istituto Lorenzo di' Medici, where they focused on Museum Studies and Italian Language starting in 2005. The end year for their studies at the Istituto Lorenzo di’ Medici is not specified.
