Dave Norman

Dave Norman has extensive work experience in research and development, specializing in the fields of chemistry and technology management. Dave is currently Senior Director of Global Research and Development at Crane Currency, where they lead a diverse team of scientists, designers, and engineers across multiple manufacturing locations. Their responsibilities include pioneering new chemical and process technologies, collaborating with innovation partners, and implementing lean manufacturing principles.

Prior to their current role, Dave served as Director of Global R&D at Crane Currency and held various technology management positions at Eastman Chemical Company. At Eastman, they were responsible for driving innovation and managing portfolios in the specialty plastics and electronic films businesses. Dave also played a key role in intellectual property strategies, commercialization processes, and external partnerships across multiple regions.

Before joining Eastman, Dave gained research experience as a group leader, senior research chemist, and advanced research chemist. This includes conducting research at the University of Bristol, where they specialized in ligand synthesis and transition metal catalysts, and the University of Alberta, where they focused on organochromium chemistry. Dave Norman obtained a BSc degree in Chemistry/Biology from Mount Allison University, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. Subsequently, they pursued their PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Alberta, completing their doctoral studies from 2001 to 2006.
