John Laurell, CSPO has over 25 years of experience in the payment solutions industry. John began their career in 1995 as a Customer Support Representative for Primary Services (Associates National Bank/Texaco). In 1997, they joined WoodForest National Bank/Delta Card Services as an R&D/Product Development Technician. In 2002, they joined Paya.com as a Director of Research & Development (R&D) / Technical Support. John was promoted to Vice President of Technical Operations in the same year. In 2021, they joined Fortis as Director of Product and JL Payment Solutions LLC as an Independent B2B Consultant. John is currently working as Director of Product for Ionia since 2023.

John Laurell, CSPO completed undergraduate coursework at Houston Community College and the University of Houston. John obtained their Certified Scrum Product Owner® (CSPO®) certification from the Scrum Alliance in June 2010.
