Antti Turunen is a seasoned diplomat with extensive experience in mediation and international relations. Currently serving as a Senior Adviser at CMI — Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation since October 2019, Turunen previously held the position of Ambassador-at-Large on Mediation Policy at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland from January 2018 to October 2019. From March 2010 to December 2017, Turunen served as Assistant Secretary General at the United Nations, co-chairing the Geneva International Discussions focused on the aftermath of the 2008 conflict in Georgia. Prior experience includes serving as Ambassador and Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Finland to the OSCE, where Turunen chaired the Permanent Council in 2008. Educational background includes a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Tampere.
