Scientist I Computational Biology at CRISPR Therapeutics

Cristian D. Loaiza is an accomplished professional in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics, currently serving as a Scientist I at CRISPR Therapeutics since June 2020. Previously, Cristian held positions including Senior Bioinformatics Engineer and Bioinformatics Engineer. Prior to CRISPR Therapeutics, Cristian worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Utah State University from January 2018 to June 2020, focusing on a comparative machine learning framework for predicting host-pathogen protein-protein interactions. Cristian's earlier experience includes a role as a Bioinformatics Research Assistant at CENICANA, where responsibilities included data analysis of genotype-phenotype associations and the design of bioinformatic pipelines, and an internship at CIAT, where mobile app implementation was undertaken to enhance data capture processes. Cristian holds a Master’s degree in Plant Science with a focus on Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from Utah State University, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering from Universidad del Valle in Colombia.
