Ellen Yang

Ellen Yang is currently the Chief of Staff & Legal Counsel at Cruise Automation. Prior to that, they served as the VP, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary at Penske Motor Group from August 2017 to December 2021. In that role, Ellen oversaw all legal affairs for the company, including contracts, litigation, labor & employment, corporate governance, privacy, real estate, compliance, and more. Ellen also served as the company's Privacy Officer, overseeing CCPA/CPRA compliance and implementation of the company's Data Breach Incident Response Plan.

Before their time at Penske Motor Group, Ellen was the Director of Contracts at Taco Bell from November 2014 to August 2017. Prior to that, they served as Corporate and Field Operations Counsel at Public Storage from April 2008 to October 2014. Ellen began their career as an Associate at Strumwasser & Woocher LLP from September 2005 to April 2008.

Ellen Yang first attended the University of California, Berkeley where they obtained their B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology and Political Science. Ellen then went on to attend New York University School of Law and obtained their J.D. in Law. Finally, they obtained their certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals in The Certified Information Privacy Professional - United States (CIPP/US).

They work with Olivia Tsai - Assistant General Counsel & Head of IP, Sheldon Quan - VP, Deputy General Counsel & Corporate Secretary. Ellen Yang reports to Jeff Bleich, Chief Legal Officer.
