Gavin Peng

Gavin (Qiuyu) Peng is a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence across various leading technology companies. Currently serving as Senior Staff Tech Lead Manager for Machine Learning in Planning at Cruise since January 2023, Gavin focuses on trajectory ranking and autonomous vehicle decision-making. Previously, as R&D Executive Director at Momenta, leadership was provided to the planning and control team. During tenure at Nuro, Gavin founded and led the behavior machine learning team, specializing in planning, behavior prediction, and scene understanding for self-driving cars. Prior roles include Research Engineer at DeepMind, Software Engineer at Google focused on cloud ML/AI, and experience as a software engineer intern at both Facebook and Bell Laboratories. Gavin holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech and a B.S. in Information Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
