Olivia Tsai

Assistant General Counsel & Head of IP at Cruise

Olivia Tsai is the current Assistant General Counsel and Head of Intellectual Property at Cruise Automation. Olivia previously worked as Senior Intellectual Property Counsel for Cisco from September 2014 to September 2017.

Tsai was responsible for crafting patent portfolios for cloud and hardware technologies at Cisco. Olivia also created a comprehensive patent portfolio for Tetration Analytics during its stealth mode and prior to product launch. In addition, Tsai initiated and built the patent portfolio for Meraki, one of Cisco's most successful acquisitions.

Tsai led team-wide processes and executive reports for patent mining and patent pruning at Cisco. Olivia regularly received appreciation awards from their peers and management, and was even granted a unique achievement award by the Vice President.

Olivia Tsai started their educational career by getting a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Olivia then went on to get their JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. After that, they got certification from the State Bar of California as an attorney. Finally, they got certification from the USPTO as a Patent Attorney.

Olivia Tsai reports to Jeff Bleich, Chief Legal Officer. They work with Sheldon Quan - VP, Deputy General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, Ellen Yang - Chief of Staff & Legal Counsel.
