Rob Sands

Senior Vice President, Business Development at Crunchyroll

Rob Sands has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Rob started their career at Leo Burnett as a Senior Art Director, managing international marketing and advertising programs. Rob then moved on to Kaspen/BBDO, where they served as a Creative Director and played a key role in developing business strategies for the start-up agency. At Ogilvy & Mather, Rob worked as a Creative Director, counseling executive management on marketing strategy and managing a team for clients such as Epson and Coca-Cola.

In 2004, Rob became the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Generation, an advertising and design agency based in Seattle. Rob led the agency's operations and worked with clients like Cisco Systems and Jones Soda. Following this, Rob joined Airborne Entertainment as a Senior Manager, Publishing, where they partnered with wireless carriers and developed content strategies based on market analysis.

In 2006, Rob joined Gameloft as the Senior Manager, North America Publishing, responsible for generating annual revenue exceeding $60 million. Rob acted as the account lead for companies such as AT&T and Microsoft. Rob then joined Amazon as the Principal Business Development for Digital Products and played a pivotal role in the launch of Amazon consumer hardware and software products.

Rob's tenure at CNN started in 2015, where they held various roles in business development and content products. Their work at CNN focused on expanding Great Big Story, a CNN brand, through partnerships, licensing, and syndication. Under their leadership, Great Big Story reached over 500 million consumers worldwide through various platforms.

Currently, Rob Sands works at Crunchyroll as the Senior Vice President of Business Development, overseeing the company's growth and development.

Outside of their professional career, Rob Sands also served as a Former Board Member for the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY), a non-profit arts organization that supports young directors in showcasing their work and connecting with industry professionals.

Rob Sands attended Landon High School from 1988 to 1992. Rob then went on to study at the University of Colorado Boulder from 1992 to 1996, completing their Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. In 1996 to 1998, they pursued a Secondary Certificate in Advertising & Art Direction from Portfolio Center. Later in 2010 to 2011, Rob participated in the Pathwise Leadership Management program to enhance their executive leadership skills.
