Nicholas Lubega

Orthopedic Surgeon, Malawi at CURE International

Dr. Nicholas Lubega is a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at the CURE Children’s Hospital of Malawi. He loves pediatric orthopedic reconstructive surgery and adult arthroplasty. Nicholas received his Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) and Masters in Orthopedics (M.Med) degrees from Makerere University in Uganda. After joining CURE, he completed a Trauma Fellowship at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, University of Pretoria in South Africa, and also excelled in the Orthopedic Fellowship exams with the College of Surgeons of East, Central, and Southern Africa (COSECSA), thereby becoming a Fellow of the College (FCS). He also completed an MBA with East & Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI).

Nicholas is married to Susan, and they have three teenage children. He loves teaching and is an honorary lecturer at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, Department of Surgery. He also serves on the English Speaking Africa, AO Alliance Foundation (AOAF) Steering Committee in charge of Education and Fellowships. AOAF is a nonprofit international surgeons’ organization dedicated to improving the care of the injured and orthopedic surgical education in low-and middle-income countries in Asia and Africa.

Besides medicine and surgery, Nicholas loves reading widely to broaden his mind in other fields. He loves jogging and actively participating in many ministries at his local church.
