Before Syapse, Tom was a software development engineer at Athenahealth for 1 year and a software development engineer intern at Amazon.com for 4 months. Tom was also a research intern at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering where they were a data-drive researcher in on Biomarkers for Depression clinical study. In addition, Tom was a teaching fellow at Harvard University for 2 years and 5 months.

Tom Lemberg attended Harvard University, where they earned an A.B. in Computer Science. Theirundergraduate thesis applied Machine Learning to Cancer Epigenomics in breast and lung cancers. Tom also completed a secondary field in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Lemberg then attended Y Combinator, an education program. Tom graduated cum laude from Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School in 2010.
