Medical Director - Infectious Diseases & Molecular Therapies at CureVac

Margarida Mesquita, MD has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Margarida currently serves as the Medical Director for Infectious Diseases & Molecular Therapies at CureVac since October 2020. Prior to this, they worked at Sanofi from 2018 to 2020, holding various roles including Global Medical Therapeutic Area Head and Global Medical Lead. Margarida was also the pilot owner of the Sanofi X Plug and Play Startup Creasphere. Margarida began their career as an MD - Family Physician at the Ministério da Saúde de Portugal from 2004 to 2018. Margarida also had a significant role at GSK from 2012 to 2018 as the Medical Lead for the Region Southern Africa, ADC - Vaccines & Pharma, focusing on respiratory diseases, vaccines portfolio, malaria, HIV, and infectious diseases. Additionally, Margarida worked as a Vaccine Science Network Champion and Medical Affairs Manager for the Vaccines Portfolio & Compassionate Use Programs at GSK. Margarida pursued a PhD in Public Health at Universidade Nova de Lisboa from 2011 to 2014.

Margarida Mesquita, MD has a diverse education history. In 1997 to 2003, they obtained a Medical Degree (M.D.) from Universidade do Porto. Following this, from 2006 to 2010, they pursued an Advanced Specialisation Master Programme in Medicine - Geriatrics and Ageing at Universidade de Coimbra. Additionally, in 2011 to 2014, Margarida pursued a PhDc (paused) in Public Health at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. In 2017 to 2018, they completed a post-graduate program in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Hospital de Dona Estefânia - Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Central. Continuing their education, Margarida recently completed an Academic Certificate in Medical Affairs with a focus on Medicines Development at King's College in 2020. Lastly, they are expected to have an upcoming course in HMX Immunology at Harvard Medical School in 2023. In terms of certifications, they have obtained a Specialist - Family Physician certification in 2010 and a Medical Doctor - Practitioner certification in 2003, both from Secção Regional do Norte da Ordem dos Médicos. Furthermore, Margarida acquired a Professional Certificate in Medicines Development from IFAPP Academy in 2020.
