Zhirong Shen, PhD

Zhirong Shen, PhD has a strong background in software engineering and machine learning, with extensive experience in the maritime and offshore industry.

From December 2014 to August 2021, Zhirong worked at the American Bureau of Shipping as a Senior Software Engineer. During this time, Zhirong developed machine learning algorithms for various applications, such as ship fuel consumption prediction and corrosion detection. Zhirong also led the development of a high-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation platform, which replaced existing commercial software and resulted in cost savings and new revenue streams for the company.

From August 2021 to February 2023, Zhirong served as the Lead Software Engineer at Front Energies, a fast-paced startup. In this role, Zhirong developed machine learning models for digital transformation initiatives, including wind power generation forecasting and digital-twin monitoring.

Currently, Zhirong is employed as a Senior Software Engineer at Cushion since February 2023.

Zhirong Shen first attended Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from 2006 to 2010.

After obtaining their undergraduate degree, Zhirong Shen continued their education at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computational Fluid Dynamics from 2010 to 2014.

In addition to their formal education, Zhirong Shen has also acquired several certifications.
