Rico Pires

Rico Pires has a diverse work experience that spans a variety of industries. Rico is currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer at Customs Support, a neutral and dynamic customs partner in Europe. Prior to this role, they were the CEO of Pires Capital GmbH, a position they held since 2021. Rico has also been an angel investor in two different start-ups: paretos, an artificial intelligence-based data science platform, and Tolstoy, a restaurant franchise with a focus on plant-based menus. Earlier in their career, Rico worked as an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company. Rico also has experience as a Research Fellow and Research Assistant at the University of Heidelberg and as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the University of Connecticut. Rico's extensive background in various industries and roles showcases their adaptability and breadth of expertise.

Rico Pires has an education history in the field of physics. Rico started their academic journey in 2004 at Heidelberg University, where they earned a Vordiplom degree in physics. From 2007 to 2009, Rico attended the University of Connecticut, where they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in physics. Rico then returned to Heidelberg University, where they completed their doctoral studies and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in physics from 2009 to 2014.
