Edward J. Ludwig

Mr. Ludwig was formerly lead director of the board of directors of Aetna Inc. from 2003 until the closing of the merger involving CVS Health and Aetna, when he became a director of CVS Health. Mr. Ludwig is the former Chairman of the board of directors of Becton, Dickinson and Company ("BD") (a global medical technology company), having served in this position from February 2002 through June 2012. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of BD from January 2000 to September 2011, President of BD from May 1999 to December 2008, and Chief Financial Officer of BD from January 1995 to May 1999. Mr. Ludwig joined BD as a Senior Financial Analyst in 1979. Prior to joining BD, Mr. Ludwig was a senior auditor with Coopers and Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) where he earned his CPA. Mr. Ludwig also served as director of Xylem, Inc. (a water technology company) from 2011 to 2017, and Chairman of Advanced Medical Technology Association, or AdvaMed (a medical device trade association), from 2006 to 2008. He serves as the lead independent director of Boston Scientific Corporation (medical devices) and as a director of POCARED Diagnostics Ltd. (a diagnostics technology manufacturer based in Israel).

Mr. Ludwig's more than 30 years of experience in the field of medical technology gives him a unique perspective on the Company's strategy. As the former Chairman and CEO of BD, Mr. Ludwig brings a thorough appreciation of the strategic and operational issues facing a large public company in the health care industry. As a former CFO and a CPA Mr. Ludwig offers the Board a deep understanding of financial, accounting and audit-related issues.
