Kyu Rhee

EVP & Chief Medical Officer, Aetna at CVS Health

Kyu Rhee is the EVP, Chief Medical Officer at CVS Health. Prior to joining CVS Health, Dr. Rhee served as Vice President and Chief Health Officer at IBM Corporation from January 2011 to December 2021. In this role, they served as the lead physician, public health, and clinical executive leader for IBM's global workforce of over 350K in 170 countries. Kyu and their team were responsible for IBM’s efforts to transform health through the use of data, analytics, artificial intelligence, and services for hospitals, health systems, providers, health plans, employers, governments, and life science companies. They were also accountable for the health and safety of the global workforce, innovating health plan design for billions of global healthcare spending, and assuring a culture of health and performance at IBM.

Dr. Rhee believes in the power of progressive thinking, leadership, policy and action to improve business, society and the human condition. Kyu is a strong advocate for the IBM brand and what it represents to forward-thinking clients, employees, communities, investors and the general public worldwide.

Kyu Rhee enrolled in a residency program for internal medicine-pediatrics at the University of California, Los Angeles. Kyu then went on to earn their Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. After completing their medical education, Kyu Rhee pursued a Master's degree in health policy from Harvard Kennedy School. Finally, they completed their undergraduate studies at Yale University, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) in biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology.

They work with Donna Rosen - VP, Client Clinical Services - CVS Health, Lora Armstrong - VP, Medical Affairs, and James Murray - VP, Clinical Informatics & Interoperability. and Joneigh Khaldun - VP, Chief Health Equity Officer reports to Kyu Rhee. Kyu Rhee reports to Sree Chaguturu, EVP, Chief Medical Officer.
