Jason Speck

Jason Speck has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. Jason is currently serving as the Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations at CymaBay Therapeutics since August 2023. Before joining CymaBay Therapeutics, they held the role of Senior Director of Manufacturing Operations at the same company from February 2022 to August 2023.

Prior to joining CymaBay Therapeutics, Jason worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific as the Director of Operations from March 2019 to August 2021. Jason led the Operations Department, overseeing various functions such as chemistry and consumables manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing engineering. Jason successfully raised quarterly revenue and improved factory output during their tenure.

Before Thermo Fisher Scientific, Jason worked at AstraZeneca as the Director of Process Engineering from September 2013 to January 2019. Jason played a key role in the design, build, and qualification of a commercial manufacturing facility. Jason also oversaw the tech transfer of processes to a site in Europe and successfully defended the facility and manufacturing process in an FDA Pre-Approval Inspection.

Jason also contributed significantly to Pearl Therapeutics, where they held various roles from 2008 to 2013. Jason served as the Associate Director of Particle Process Development and Manufacturing, leading a team in process development. Jason later became the Manager of R&D Manufacturing and Process Development.

Their earlier experience includes working as a Process Development Engineer at Nektar Therapeutics from 2006 to 2008 and as a Senior Process Engineer at Kosan Biosciences, Inc. from 2002 to 2006. Jason also worked as a Process Engineer at RMT from 1998 to 2002.

Jason's career started with a Co-op position at Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America from 1994 to 1998.

Jason Speck obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1998. In addition to their degree, they obtained a Professional Engineer certification from the California Department of Consumer Affairs in January 2003.
