Jonathan Stubbs is the Vice Dean, Faculty of Communication & Head of Department of Journalism at Cyprus International University. Jonathan has over fifteen years of experience working in finance and project management.
Jonathan began their career in finance, working as a Financial Director for REAL Technologies (Resourceful Earth Ltd), a company that designs and builds "energy from waste" plants. In this role, Jonathan was responsible for producing the business case and financial model, and leading the discussions with the funders. Jonathan also prepared the contracts for the supply and sale of the commodities (food waste supply, electricity and gas sale, and disposal of the "digestate" which is the liquid fertiliser end product of the anaerobic digestion process).
In 2015, Jonathan left REAL Technologies to take on a new challenge as a Project Manager for AquaQ Analytics. In this role, they were responsible for rebuilding the daily price service for financial instruments, used by the prime finance systems of the client (an investment bank). Jonathan successfully completed this project in 2016, and their work was recognised with a fixed price contract extension.
In 2017, Jonathan returned to academia, taking on the role of Vice Dean, Faculty of Communication & Head of Department of Journalism at Cyprus International University. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the faculty's communication programmes, as well as teaching journalism courses.
Jonathan Stubbs has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath. Jonathan also has a high school diploma in mathematics from Gravesend Grammar School for Boys. In addition, they are certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Manager Professional (PMP) and by the Association for Project Management as a PRINCE 2 Practitioner.
Jonathan Stubbs reports to Hikmet Seçi̇m, Dean, Faculty of Communication & Head of Visual Communication Design. Jonathan Stubbs works with Sevilay Ören - Deputy Head of Department of Radio, Television & Cinema, Bahar Taşeli̇ - Head of Department of Public Relations & Advertising.
