Laura Fidell

Laura Fidell has an extensive work history in statistics and biostatistics. Laura began their career as an Associate Scientist at BBN Systems and Technologies, where they conducted social surveys related to aircraft noise. Laura then moved on to BBN Technologies as a Staff Scientist, where they focused on study design and statistical analysis in various research projects.

In 2004, Laura joined Baxter Healthcare as an Associate Director and Manager Biostatistician, working on clinical trials in biosurgery, hematology, and immunology. Laura also played a role in system process change initiatives and provided guidance on submission-related elements.

In 2015, Laura joined Baxalta as an Associate Director, building and leading a group of statisticians in the Clinical Biostatistics Group. This team worked on clinical trials across various business franchises. After the merger with Shire in 2016, Laura's team became part of the Shire Biostats & programming group.

Laura then transitioned to Shire as the Director of Statistics Team Lead, leading a team of statisticians working on late phase studies, safety studies, and publication support. Following the merger with Takeda, their team became part of the Statistical & Quantitative Sciences group.

Most recently, Laura joined Cytel in 2019 as the Senior Director of Statistics & Programming, Global FSP Services. Laura was promoted to the role of VP, FSP Operations in 2021, where they currently work.

Laura Fidell has a solid educational background with a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biostatistics from UCLA, which they obtained from 2001 to 2003. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Arts (MA) in Experimental Psychology at California State University, Northridge, from 1986 to 1989. Laura's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology, also from California State University, Northridge, during the period of 1981 to 1986.
