Marcel Alavi has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Marcel started their career as a Diploma Student at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München in 2003. Marcel then worked as a Freelancer Event Marketing at Jochen Schweizer GmbH from 1998 to 2005.

In 2005, Marcel joined the Hospital of the University of Tübingen as a Ph.D. Graduate Student and stayed there until 2009. Following this, they worked as a Visiting Research Scientist at Lund University for a brief period in 2007.

Moving forward, Marcel served as a Communications Manager at Miltenyi Biotec from 2012 to 2013. Simultaneously, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz from 2010 to 2011.

From 2013 to 2016, Marcel worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at UCSF. In 2016, they founded 712 North Inc., a pharmaceutical company specializing in personalized mitochondrial medicines for complex diseases. Marcel served as the Founder of 712 North until September 2022.

In 2017, Marcel founded Tradewind BioScience, a biotech startup focused on addressing metastasis. Marcel held the role of Founder at Tradewind BioScience for a short period from July to December 2017.

Most recently, Marcel joined CytomX Therapeutics in October 2022 as a Scientist.

Marcel Alavi has a diverse education history in the field of biological sciences. Marcel obtained a Diploma in Biology/Biological Sciences from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, where they studied from 1997 to 2004. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Tübingen from 2005 to 2010. Marcel then engaged in postdoctoral research at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 2010 to 2011. Later, they pursued another postdoctoral position at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) from 2013 to 2016.

In addition to their academic degrees, Marcel Alavi has obtained several certifications to further enhance their skills and knowledge. Marcel has completed a Scientific Leadership and Management program at UCSF, as well as a Startup 101 workshop. Marcel has also completed a US Food and Drug Administration, Drug Development, Science and Health Policy course at UC Berkeley.
