Robert Scoggins, MD, PhD is a pulmonary and critical care physician with over 15 years of practice experience in hospitals across the country. Robert began his career in science with an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from Vanderbilt University and completed a PhD in Microbiology at the University of Virginia as part of a combined MD, PhD program. Residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care were completed at Vanderbilt University. His research projects included HIV pathogenesis, EGF receptor inhibitors, and how airway inflammation contributes to the development of lung cancer. During his time in clinical practice he has held many leadership positions within the hospitals including Chief of Staff and ICU Medical Director. He has chaired several hospital operational and medical staff committees including Sepsis, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and Multispecialty Peer Review. He brings his experience in clinical medicine, hospital operations and science to develop and communicate clinical strategy, identify and solve key clinical issues, product development and represent the voice of patients and the healthcare community. He has a passion for solving difficult clinical problems that benefit the care of patients and improve the efficiency of healthcare systems.
