Stephen Norris

Stephen completed a first class honours degree in Computer Science from Sydney University in 1992, and has been working in a wide range of technical and executive roles ever since. In 1996, he helped to co-found CommSecure, a company providing high-performance, high-reliability solutions in credit card processing and stock market information systems. His role as CTO at CommSecure included design, implementation and management of a technology and operations team of about 20. In 2005 he left CommSecure and joined the speech and language technology company Appen, as head of the technology team. Over the 13 years Stephen was at Appen, his role expanded to including technology, operations, business development and general management. When he left Appen in 2018 Stephen was managing a department of about 250 staff in 8 countries, and a team of 2000 annotators in the Philippines.
