Afua Cooper, PhD, is the Founder and Principal of Afua Cooper Consulting & Speaking, a global consulting and speaking practice established in January 1991, serving a diverse range of clients including boards of directors, universities, Fortune 500 companies, and non-profits. Dr. Cooper currently holds the position of Professor of Black History at Dalhousie University, where responsibilities include coordinating the Black and African Diaspora Studies Minor. Previously, Dr. Cooper served as a poet and Creative Director for the Dub Poets Collective from April 2003 to October 2010, and held the Ruth Wynn Woodward Chair in Women's Studies at Simon Fraser University, focusing on research and teaching in Black Canadian and African Diaspora Women's history. Dr. Cooper earned a Doctor of Philosophy in History from the University of Toronto, as well as advanced French Language Proficiency from Universite Sainte Anne and a specialization in Communications and Social Media from the Coady International Institute.
