Mike Weinar

Assistant Coach at Dallas Mavericks

Mike Weinar enters his 12th season with the Mavericks and third with the title of assistant coach. Weinar was member of the 2011 Championship coaching staff. He is responsible for opponent preparation and contributes prominently to the offensive side of the ball.

Weinar led Dallas to the 2017 Orlando Summer Pro League Championship as well as guiding the 2019 NBA Summer League Mavericks to a playoff appearance as the head coach. He also has served as an assistant coach on previous Mavericks’ Las Vegas summer league teams. Prior to joining the Mavericks, Weinar worked as a graduate assistant at the University of Florida under head coach Billy Donovan.

Weinar served as a graduate assistant with the University of Florida Men’s Basketball Program from 2006 to 2008. From 2003 to 2006, Weinar served as a student manager with the University of Florida Men’s Basketball Program. During his tenure at the University of Florida, he was a part of back to back National Championship teams in 2005-06 and 2006-07. Prior to this, Weinar served as an assistant basketball coach at his alma mater, Bronson High School.

Born in Urbana, Ill., Weinar earned his master’s degree in sport management and his bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science with a minor in business administration from the University of Florida. Weinar has extensive experience coaching and speaking at camps and clinics both domestically and internationally. Born July 23, 1984, Weinar is the son of Paul and Linda Weinar. Weinar and his wife, Noelle, have two sons, Gavin and Wesley.
