Mercedes Brown

Mercedes Brown is the Manager of Individual Giving & Events at Dallas Theater Center. Prior to their current role, they served as Staff Coordinator/ Administrative Assistant at New York Open Center from October 2016 to September 2017 and Trade Show & Commissions Coordinator at AESTHETIC MOVEMENT from February 2012 to May 2016.

Brown began their career in the arts as a Research & Grant Writer for Brooklyn-based artist Sophia Dawson from November 2013 to April 2014. In this role, they assisted Dawson with research related to their artwork, finding artist opportunities, and grant writing.

Brown is a passionate advocate for the arts and has dedicated their career to supporting artists and organizations that promote creativity and storytelling. Mercedes is committed to making the arts accessible to everyone and believes that the arts have the power to transform lives.

Mercedes Brown has a MA in Visual Arts Administration from New York University, a BA in Art Theirtory from Montclair State University, and a degree in Graphic Design from the New York Institute of Technology.

They are on a team with Salomona Mendoza - Manager of Donor Stewardship, Lauren Cuddihee - Manager of Corporate Relations, and Dionne Davis - Manager of Foundation & Government Relations. Mercedes Brown reports to Keyana Marshall, Interim Director of Development.
