Kasper Thams Olsen has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Kasper is currently serving as the Head of Department in the Minister's Office and Press at Forsvarsministeriet since December 2021. Prior to this, they held various roles at Udenrigsministeriet, including Director of the COVID-19 Coordination Unit and Deputy Director of the Ministers' and Management Secretariat. Kasper was also the Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark in 2016 and a Political Advisor at the European External Action Service. Kasper Thams Olsen began their career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark in 2001, where they held the positions of Academic Assistant and Political Affairs Intern. Kasper has also worked at DANIDA and Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network. Throughout their career, Kasper Thams Olsen has gained extensive experience in various diplomatic and advisory roles.

Kasper Thams Olsen completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Public Administration at Roskilde University from 1999 to 2002. Kasper then pursued their Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Human Rights at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 2004 to 2005. Finally, Kasper obtained their Cand.Scient.Pol. (M.A.) in Political Science from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen from 2003 to 2006.
