Diego Gonzalez Avila is an experienced professional in the field of research and development, currently serving as the EU R&D Platform Leader for Water & Beverages at Danone since November 2025. Previously, Diego held the position of R&D EU Gum Lead at Perfetti Van Melle from October 2023 to October 2025 and was a Senior Group GUM RDQ Leader at Mondelēz International from September 2019 to September 2023, where the focus was on driving innovation and renovation strategy in the Gum category across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Prior to these roles, Diego accumulated extensive experience at PepsiCo in various R&D management positions related to cookies, crackers, dairy, and savory products from February 2003 to August 2019. Diego holds a Bachelor’s degree in Food Chemistry from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and has further educational experience from Universidad La Salle, A.C. and Purdue University.
