Jens Dandanell Petersen has a wealth of experience in various roles within the energy and climate sector. Jens began their career in 1994 as a Program Officer at the United Nations before moving on to become Head of Section at the Danish Energy Authority. Jens then took on the role of Chief Programme Coordinator at the Danish Ministry of Environment and Energy, followed by a period of paternity leave.

In 2002, Petersen worked as a Consultant at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs/DANIDA before joining the Danish Environmental Protection Agency as Head of Section. Jens later became a Special Adviser to the Minister at the Ministry of Climate Change and Energy.

Petersen then transitioned to the private sector, first joining DONG Energy as a Senior Business Developer and later as Strategic Adviser to the CEO. Jens also served as Lead Policy Adviser & EU Coordinator at DONG Energy before joining Nævnenes Hus as an Appointed member of Energiklagenævnet/Energy Board of Appeal in 2018.

Their most recent role was at DI - Dansk Industri, where they served as a Senior Adviser, Leading Senior Adviser, and Head of National Energy and Climate Policy and Climate Partnerships. Throughout their career, Petersen has demonstrated expertise in energy and climate policy, strategic advising, and business development.

Jens Dandanell Petersen holds a Diploma of Leadership from Copenhagen University College of Engineering, which they received in 2012. Jens attended Harvard University in 1997, participating in the Environmental Economics & Policy Analysis Workshop. In 2016, they pursued a program in Influencing Strategies and Skills at Hult Ashridge. Jens also completed a MA (Economics) degree in Cand.polit at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen; however, the start and end years of this degree are not provided.
