Youngmin Ju

Youngmin Ju, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and economics. Youngmin currently works as a Data Scientist at Datacrunch Global, where they support daily managerial decisions for MNCs and global Private Equity Funds. Prior to this, they were an Economist (Data Scientist) at Decode Data Inc., where they focused on user retention improvement within the financial services industry.

Youngmin has also worked extensively on data science projects, serving as a Data Scientist/Economist. Their projects include analyzing the effect of Affirmative Action on female employment rate in Korea, implementing neural networks for store item demand forecasting, and building binary-classification models for customer churn prediction. During this time, they have published multiple papers and books.

In addition to their industry experience, Youngmin has worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Southern California. Youngmin taught courses on topics such as Big Data Econometrics and Applied Econometrics, and provided guidance to students in programming and statistical analysis.

Prior to their academic and industry roles, Youngmin served as a Junior Military Officer in the Republic of Korea Army, where they were an Economics Instructor at the Korea Army Academy at Yeongcheon. Youngmin led and supervised cadets, and their expertise in panel data economic models contributed to the successful completion of government research projects.

Youngmin Ju, PhD, has a strong education background in economics and mathematical sciences. Youngmin obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Economics from the University of Southern California, starting in 2015 and completing it in 2021. Prior to their doctoral studies, they earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Economics from Korea University, which they attended from 2008 to 2010. Youngmin also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematical Sciences from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, where they studied from 2004 to 2008.

In addition to their formal degrees, Youngmin Ju has pursued various certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Youngmin obtained a certification in Data Scientist with R Track from DataCamp in September 2019. Youngmin also completed a Machine Learning course through Coursera in July 2019. Furthermore, Youngmin Ju has acquired certifications in different areas of data analysis and database management through DataCamp, including Cleaning Data in R, Cluster Analysis in R, Correlation and Regression in R, Introduction to Relational Databases in SQL, Introduction to SQL, Introduction to Shell, Joining Data in SQL, Machine Learning in the Tidyverse, Machine Learning with caret in R, Multiple and Logistic Regression in R, and Unsupervised Learning in R. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Hunet Chief Management Professional (MBA) from Hunet in August 2012.
