Yu Yeung Scott Yiu started their career in 2013 as an intern at the Hong Kong Observatory. In 2014, they joined the University of Cambridge as a PHD student, focusing on using machine learning for climate prediction. Yu Yeung Scott continued their work at the university as a Research Associate and Visiting Researcher, applying data science and ML techniques to atmospheric sciences research. In 2019, Yiu joined De Beers Group as a Data Scientist and later became a Senior Data Scientist. Yu Yeung Scott built and led the data science and analytics team and worked on the polished price forecasting work-stream. Yiu is projected to bring in over 20 million USD of EBITDA uplift per annum.
Yu Yeung Scott Yiu completed their education history as follows: From 2009 to 2012, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Cambridge. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Physics from 2012 to 2013, also at the University of Cambridge. Finally, from 2014 to 2018, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Atmospheric Chemistry and Climatology at the University of Cambridge.
