Brian Holmes has a wealth of experience in the field of optical security features and holography. Brian spent over 20 years at De La Rue in various roles, including Chief Scientist and De La Rue Fellow, Head of Optical Security Features, Head of Holography and Chief Optical Technology Expert, and Chief Holographer and Director of OVD Design & Technology. During their time at De La Rue, they led the research team, initiated key projects, and filed numerous patent applications. Brian was also recognized with several innovation awards. Prior to De La Rue, they worked at Ferranti Technologies as a Technical Manager, where they successfully led a major project in nano-technology and received recognition for their work on the EUV space telescope optics.
Brian Holmes completed their education with a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Birmingham, which they obtained from 1983 to 1987. Prior to that, they earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematical Techniques from the same university, studying from 1980 to 1983. Brian completed their secondary education at St Thomas More School in Willenhall, West Midlands, between 1975 and 1980. During this time, they achieved excellent academic results with 6 A levels covering all of the Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Applied Mechanics.
