Hannes Helgason

Hannes Helgason is a seasoned research scientist with extensive experience in academia and industry. Currently, Hannes holds dual positions as a Research Scientist at deCODE genetics and a Research Assistant Professor at Háskóli Íslands since September 2021. Previously, Hannes served as Chief Information Officer at Jiko and as a Research Scientist at deCODE genetics from 2012 to 2016. Hannes also worked at the University of Iceland-Háskóli Íslands as a Research Assistant Professor and completed postdoctoral research at KTH and École normale supérieure de Lyon. Earlier in the career, Hannes held roles in finance as a Derivatives Trader at Kaupthing Bank and participated in research at Caltech and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Hannes earned a PhD in Computational and Applied Mathematics from Caltech and holds dual Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Háskóli Íslands.
