Donna Wood has extensive work experience in defense research and development. Donna worked as a director for various departments within Defence Research and Development Canada, including the Research and Development Strategic Partnerships Industry Advice and Science and Technology Operations. Prior to that, they held roles as a project manager and section head in fields such as wireless public alerting dissemination, conducted energy weapons strategic initiative, and major events coordinated security systems. Before their time at Defence Research and Development Canada, Donna served as a signals officer and land electrical mechanical engineering officer in the Canadian Forces.

Donna obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management from Carleton University during the period from 2012 to 2022.
