Brent Wardell is a seasoned professional with significant experience in military leadership and nuclear weapons systems safety. Currently serving as Chief Nuclear Weapons Systems Safety at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency since July 2011, Brent leads a five-person team focused on national-level nuclear weapons safety and surety issues. Prior to this role, Brent held various leadership positions within the U.S. Air Force, including Commander of the 2nd Maintenance Squadron, where management of 620 personnel and operational oversight of diverse maintenance programs were key responsibilities. Brent's earlier roles include commanding the 2nd Maintenance Operations Squadron and serving as Senior Maintenance Officer for the 2nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, where operational efficiency and policy development were achievements. Educational credentials include a Master of Aeronautical Science in Aviation Aerospace Management and a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
