Hannah Baker is an experienced social researcher with a strong focus on strategic insights in environmental and agricultural policies, currently serving as the Head of the Strategic Social Research Team at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since July 2022. Previously, Hannah worked at Defra from June 2018 to July 2022 in various roles, including Principal Social Researcher, where management of multidisciplinary qualitative and quantitative research projects informed policy decisions. Additional roles include Senior Social Researcher and Social Researcher, contributing extensive evidence-based insights across various policy teams. Hannah has also engaged in volunteer work with Good Food York and has experience in academic research with positions at Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Leeds. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Food Security and Food Justice from the University of Sheffield and a BSc in Geography from the University of Leeds.
