James Boyer

James Boyer has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. James is currently the Director of Engineering at Degreed, where they oversee the LXP and Platform Engineering teams. James is responsible for building thoughtfully-engineered products and platforms. Prior to this role, James served as an Engineering Manager at Degreed, leading multiple agile product engineering teams. James was instrumental in implementing an org-wide career ladder, streamlining developer onboarding, and increasing unit test coverage.

Before joining Degreed, James worked as a Senior Software Engineer on the Mobile team, where they designed and implemented features for Degreed's mobile API. James made notable performance improvements and developed an API rate-limiting mechanism to protect endpoints.

James also has experience in the education sector, teaching CIS and Computer Science courses as an Adjunct Professor at West Hills College Lemoore. In addition, they have worked as a Software Engineer at Tulare County Superior Court, where they built software systems and performed upgrades to existing legacy systems. James was involved in the design and implementation of the Court Appearance Reminders System.

Earlier in their career, James was a Senior Software Engineer at J. G. Boswell Company, where they designed and maintained custom software applications. James worked on a project to integrate employee payroll and timekeeping data with ADP. James also served as a Senior Software Engineer at Kings County Information Technology Department, leading the software development team and overseeing the adoption of a new timekeeping system. Additionally, they built a public-facing inmate lookup web application.

James began their career as an IT Director at Cline's Business Equipment, where they managed the IT department and developed software systems. James increased profitability, created new positions, and implemented automation processes.

Throughout their career, James has demonstrated a strong technical acumen, leadership skills, and a passion for developing innovative solutions.

James Boyer has a diverse education history. James completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science from National University, where they studied from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, they attended West Hills College Lemoore from 2010 to 2014, earning an Associate of Arts (AA) in Liberal Arts.

In addition to their formal education, James has obtained several certifications. James achieved the certifications of "Managing Experienced Managers" and "Managing New Managers" from LinkedIn in September 2022. Furthermore, they received the certifications of "CompTIA Network+" from CompTIA in November 2010, and "CompTIA A+" from CompTIA in July 2009.
